March Coaching Conversations

When: 3/26/2019 4:30 PM - 5:45 PM
Where:
Amelie's NoDa, 2424 N. Davidson Street, Charlotte, NC 28205

The vision of Coaching Conversations is to afford coaches, both new and experienced, an additional opportunity to share best coaching practices, experiences and challenges so they can grow professionally in a relaxed environment. Each session will be facilitated by an experienced coach from our chapter and will focus on a specific skill or competency that relates to the art and process of coaching. There will be group conversations and experiential exercises. This programming is free to Chapter members and affiliates, both of whom can bring guests interested in exploring the coaching profession.

Topic:  Access Points to Develop Client Awareness

Creating awareness is a core skill (and ICF core competency) in coaching. As coaches we can work with different access points to develop client awareness. For our purpose, let's define an access point as any coaching tool, framework, assessment, methodology or mode of building awareness that helps a client see their current situation or themselves in a new way.

In this Coaching Conversation, we'll start by reviewing the ICF core competency Creating Awareness, and then quickly move into questions and tangible access points that you use with your clients so everyone can expand their coaching toolbox.

Here are several specific examples of access points:
  • Stephen Covey's Time Management Grid (framework)
  • StrengthsFinder (assessment)
  • Mind mapping (experiential)
During this Coaching Conversation, we will discuss:
  • What are different types of access points you can use with clients to develop greater awareness?
  • When is a good time/situation to use a new access point(s) with a client?
  • What other skills and core competencies will come into play as you're developing awareness?

Come to this conversation with as many types and examples of access points as you can.

CCEUS: This program satisfies the requirement of 1.25 CCEUs for Core Competencies
