Penny Sommer is a certified professional and personal development coach. She is a graduate of NC State Business Coaching Institute and Newfield Coach Training Institute, both affiliated with the International Coach Federation, of which Penny is a member.

Penny partners with individuals to define and discover a vision for a powerful life...in career...building relationships….and reaching work/life balance. In the partnership, coach and client create a plan to achieve that vision...and celebrate the accomplishments along the way. Penny’s clients have a strong desire to achieve, the willingness to explore new ideas, and the openness to invite her into the process of change.

As a certified Hogan Assessments Partner, Penny employs Hogan Assessments with clients to increase self-awareness, creating clarity of values, strengths, and challenges.

Prior to establishing her coaching practice, Penny spent over twenty years in sales and marketing roles with organizations including Eastman Kodak. She was Vice President with Lee Hecht Harrison in Charlotte, and held the position of Director of Small Business Council at the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce.

Penny believes we create the life we want by being clear about our goals and vision and aligning our decisions accordingly. Living an intentional life…that’s powerful.

Penny is a graduate of Leading the Way, the United Way Leadership Program, and she serves on the board of the Community Culinary School of Charlotte responsible for student development. Penny is a member of Women Executives of Charlotte where she also serves as a mentor to scholars. She is a member of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce.
Personal Interests
As a proponent of life-long learning, Penny enjoys exploring new adventures…books, music, physical fitness, travel, cooking and wine! She and her husband, Michael, enjoy boating on Lake Norman, water skiing, mountain biking, and running. She has two wonderful (grown) children, and three delightful Siamese cats. Her recent interest in Yoga supports her commitment to a path of enlightenment and inner peace.
