Navigating Ethical Challenges of a Coach-Client Relationship

As your client base continues to grow, your role as a professional coach will be tested. The personal values, biases, and assumptions you hold influence what you see or hear and how you respond to situations.

The ICF Code of Ethics defines coaching - the relationship, roles, and standards of ethical conduct.

In today's session, you will be in break-out discussion groups intermixed with SE Regional Chapter and Global Leadership collegaues. Together you examine a case study. As you share your perspectives on whether or not ethical boundaries have been crossed, consider your personal "line in the sand" boundary.

Here are some questions you will be tackling:
  • If ethics have been crossed, what are some appropriate recommendations?
  • How would you specifically handle the situation?
  • How do you determine that the actions taken are within ethical guidelines?
  • What factors influence how you evaulate challenging ethical situations?
After each group develops their insights, we will come together to share the broader brilliance from several case studies.

There is 1 CCEU Core Competency for this event.
