Western Carolinas Monthly Meeting: Diversity & Inclusion in Coaching: What We Don't Talk About Part 2

When: 8/7/2020 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM

Back by popular demand:

Following our July program, when Rebekah Lowe shared her expertise about conversations across differences - we are grateful to share that she has agreed to return to this topic for our August 7th Western Carolinas Coaching program. This session will include a demonstration and more time for you to practice new skills. Rebekah will be guiding us in learning how to have conversations with our clients (and others) about their experiences of bias, and how to ask questions and make observations to mindfully address difficult topics when the occasion arises.

"Ever wonder what and how to ask questions and/or make observations about differences?   We will explore foundations in diversity identity groups and learn new skills in discussing difference across difference. We will learn and practice how to have productive conversations about touchy or difficult topics we might otherwise avoid."

Learning Objectives:

1. To more fully ground coaches in the language respectful of clients' identities
2. To help participants become more aware of the influence of culture on all of us.
3. To practice in real time the methodologies that can create important opportunities for client awareness.

We will start at 11:30a.m. spending most of the first half hour with grounding in the topic and a short review of the foundational concepts. The rest of the program will be interactive and will include practice for all those in attendance.

Bring your favorite mug (coffee, tea, etc.) to show and share about as we join before beginning the meeting!

1.5 Core Competency CCEU's will be available.
